September is National Pet Health Insurance Month

At PetLynx we love to share good news from our industry partners. Here's some exciting news about a great contest from the good folks at Petsecure!

September is National Pet Health Insurance Month and Petsecure wants to remind all pet parents about the importance of insuring their animal companions.

Did you know that in Canada, over 50% of households have pets ... but only 1% of them are insured!

Pet insurance is a valuable way of ensuring you can provide your pet with the best possible care, without having to worry about the cost.

To help spread the message, Petsecure pet insurance is offering a contest throughout veterinary clinics across Canada and on our website, giving pet parents the opportunity to win big!

Fill out a Petsecure ballot at participating clinics or online at www.petsecure.com  and enter to win a grand prize valued at over $4,000!  Grand Prize includes:
  • one year coverage with Petsecure
  • a 40” Sony LCD TV
  • a one year supply of pet food
  • an iPod nano
  • a one year subscription to moderndog magazine
  • and much more!

'Toast' Pops Up to Enjoy Some Iams Cat Food!

'Toast' is the epitome of the ideal cat – pleasant, affectionate, patient and quiet,  with an expression of satisfied contentment 24/7. She pops in and out all day, but one afternoon earlier this summer, I got concerned when I hadn’t seen her in a few hours.  I called her name and my son and I walked the neighbourhood looking for her. There was no sign of her anywhere!

I went on the Parkland County Animal Control website. They have a link to the PetLynx website and I registered Toast as missing. In the meantime, we also placed ads in the newspaper and put up posters in the neighborhood. After seven days, Toast returned. She looked relaxed and somewhat mystified by the elated reaction of my son and I! To celebrate her safe return we opened a can of tuna fish and I went out and got a bag of IAMS (her favourite cat food).

We considered that 'Lulu' may have became disorientated after being chased into a hiding spot and then had no idea how to get home again.

"But there was something in the shape of this cat's face,... the density of her coat and the way she reacted to our dog made us doubt ourselves. Was this really our Lulu, we wondered? It sure looked like her but...."
